Receiver Construction
The upper and lower receivers are precision CNC machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, selected for its superior strength-to-weight ratio. Both components receive a Mil-Spec Type III Class 2 hard coat anodized finish, providing exceptional resistance to abrasion and corrosion under rigorous field conditions. This ensures long-term structural integrity and component consistency.
Barrel Assembly
Equipped with a 14.5-inch barrel forged from chrome moly vanadium steel, this assembly is critically chrome lined for enhanced durability, simplified cleaning, and extended service life. A heavy phosphate coating is applied externally for superior environmental protection. The barrel features a permanently attached Daniel Defense flash suppressor, precisely installed to achieve a legally compliant overall barrel length while mitigating muzzle flash.
Handguard System
The DDM4 M4A1 integrates the Flat Dark Earth (FDE) M4A1 RIS II handguard, a robust free-float rail system CNC machined from 6061-T6 aluminum. This component also undergoes a hard coat anodization process for resilience. Its design optimizes accessory integration, providing extensive mounting real estate for optics, illuminators, and other tactical enhancements without impacting barrel harmonics. Heat-resistant Santoprene rail panels are included to optimize user interface and mitigate thermal transfer during sustained firing.
Furniture & Ergonomics
Ergonomic control is enhanced by the polymer 6-position buttstock and pistol grip, both featuring SoftTouch overmolding. This material selection and overmolding process improves purchase and weapon control, ensuring consistent handling across various environmental conditions and operator interfaces.
